Hansen/Meisenheimer getaway

We just got home from a 3 night stay with Mom & Dad H, Cheryl, and Zach at Manteo resort in Kelowna. We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo together and had a FANTASTIC time! It was pretty chilly while we were there, so our activites were mostly indoor. We pretty much spent all our free time swimming in the pool or playing games in the condo. It was perfect for us though. A bit more tennis or bocce ball would have been nice, and maybe a golf game for Dad & Dwayne, but we'll save that for some summer fun. This was full of good family bonding, and it went by way too fast.
While we were all swimming in the pool, I had one of those rare moments where I could stop and just enjoy my kids and then I wished I could preserve them in their present state forever. Those moments are rare because of two facts. One: I'm usually quite preoccupied with just feeding, cleaning, clothing, and occupying my kids. Two: Much of childhood seems to be about learning the next thing, and I'm always so excited to see what my kids are learning to do and be. I don't take as much time as I wish I would to revel in their 9-month and 3 year old-ness. (Or whatever the current age might be.)

So, there we were swimming and Josiah was having sooooo much fun. He was jumping and dog-paddling and getting piggy-backs in the water from everyone. He was talking and singing and having a grand old time. Abby was sooooo cute in her little pink and orange bathing suit. (I'm a sucker for little girls in bathing suits! I think they're the most adorable things.) She was pretty nervous, so her tiny little hands were clutching my neck and her tiny little feet were wrapped tightly around my rib cage. We just bounced gently around the pool until she relaxed and started kicking and splashing and even smiling a little. They are so AMAZING. They are healthy and beautiful and smart. They are a joy to parent. =) Aren't vacations great? =)

I've been wishing for a long time that I had a picture of Zach in a swimsuit for my desktop, thanks! Finally!

SOunds like fun. It is raining here in Caronport today for the first time in half a year and it sure makes me think of BC.
