Dwayne stayed home with the kids today while I went out and tackled some Christmas shopping.
I was in a store in the mall when I saw a family that seemed to mirror my own. Mom, dad, boy about 4-ish, girl about 1-ish. Mom and dad were looking rather ragged as they were trying to pick out some kind of shirt, likely for one of their dads for Christmas. The mom was lugging around the daughter who was heavy and squirming. The dad was holding up various shirts for approval. The son (this was my favorite part, as the spectator) was pushing the empty stroller, which, was likely lugged out of the van for the daughter to ride in, but who was obviously refusing the stroller and begging to be carried so she could spend the whole time trying to weasel her way down to the ground and finally be free... Anyway, son is not just pushing the stroller, but banging it incessantly into racks of clothes and singing "RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER," at the top of his lungs. The mom is trying to force her daughter upright and out of her "hanging-at-a-90-degree-angle-in-the-hopes-mom-will-break-and-let-me-down" position. Dad is trying to stop son from banging and yelling while holding up the shirts. You can see they're both ready to lose it. Okay, don't think less of me, but man, I laughed when I turned around. I didn't want the already frazzled parents to see me laugh at them in their dismay, but it's so funny to see when you're not in the middle of it. That is SO my life. Trying to make every decision and complete every task amidst physical and mental harassment. From 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. It's exhausting. But man, when you're removed from it, it's hilarious! I love my family more than I could ever explain, but some things are just easier to tackle without them. Like Christmas shopping. So, let me reiterate..

Today I'm thankful for the opportunity to shop without harassment.

Yay for all your blog updates! I'm embarassed to admit I actually have blog posts that are just in draft form, unfinished and unposted from September.
You're so lucky to have found dry leaves to play in. All of our leaves are slimy lumps from all the rain, so we jump in mud puddles instead.
That is so crazy that that hit and run driver was your neighbor (or was he just hiding out there?). We saw that on the news too.
Thanks for that lovely comment about my picture on Facebook.
amen to shopping without the kids! Trav and I just got back from a day in the States -- so fun! And easy! :)
